Technology advances at a rapid rate. This is as true in the print sector as anywhere else. Innovations in graphic design software, camera hardware, document formats and printer technology have meant file sizes handled by print firms are always on the increase. Time is usually of the essence when it comes to printing. Invariably a rapid turnaround is needed. When large artwork files or other digital assets are too large to send as an email attachment, other solutions have to be found.

Highlight Print was becoming increasingly aware of the difficulties of working with large files. They asked Carpe Diem to design a solution allowing large files to be delivered directly into the company’s office via the internet avoiding the delays and costs of using physical media and courier services.

We sourced a powerful and efficient dedicated server with a low footprint. We set about implementing a tailor-made FTP solution with an online web interface allowing Highlight clients to transfer large files to the server and Highlight staff to access the files via an online administration area.

We helped deploy the server and its custom software onto Highlight’s internal network so that uploaded files were available immediately on the local network. This meant Highlight was able to continue offering fast, efficient service to their customers with no interruptions.

The new software interface allows Highlight to administer different user accounts for clients and to view statistics and logs. The software also features the new Highlight colour scheme and branding created by Carpe Diem. Now the web-based aspects of the system look polished and professional throughout.
